Description
Captured in the Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park in SW Colorado.
Lupines are among the best known flowers in the Southwest. Most of the Lupines are found at lower elevations, but the 'Silvery Lupine' is at home in the rich soil of open Ponderosa Pine Forests. In Texas, the Lupines are called 'Bluebonnets'. About 200 species are found in this Country, most being in the West. The seeds are eaten by many Western Upland Game Birds. Some of the species are toxic, especially to Sheep.
