Following is the Legend of this Mountain;
They were hunters and gatherers who lived nomadically throughout the geographic area we now know as the Four Corner states: Colorado, Utah, New Mexico, and Arizona. These people are the Ute Mountain Tribe. As a matter of fact, the state of Utah gets its name from these people. Those mountains across the valley are the Sleeping Ute Mountain range. The Sleeping Ute Mountain once spoke to Chief Ouray, leader of the Ute Mountain Tribe.
You know me as the Sleeping Ute Mountain, Chief. You and your people, along with other living creatures, reside on my slopes. Well, in the very old days there were Evil Ones causing much trouble. I, a Great Warrior God, came to help fight against the Evil Ones.
