Driving North on Lizard Head Pass you pass Priest Gulch, Lake and Camping area, some of the best Trout fishing around, this lake lies just behind Telluride, Colorado. The San Juan Scenic Byway the last week of September is an Autumn to behold!
It is sighted in Sunset Magazine as one of the top ten Camping areas in America. Open in late May, this camp offers undesignated sites, pit toilets and is free. Take Hwy. 145 south toward Cortez for 14 miles and turn into Matterhorn campground. Continue on the dirt road and look for the camping area on your right. Sorry, no reservations accepted.

Janice Rae Pariza was born in Youngstown, Ohio in 1955 and raised in Ohio, Florida, New York, Pennsylvania, Nova Scotia and Connecticut. She has been painting since the age of eight. A self taught painter, she supplemented her natural abilities by studying privately for 14 years. A realist in the medium oil, her subject matter has varied throughout the years.
