An immense Sunflower field stands tall before the Grand Mesa in Delta, Colorado on a hot August day in 2015.
Helianthus or sunflower is a genus of plants comprising about 70 species in the family Asteraceae. Except for three species in South America, all Helianthus species are native to North America.
The scientific name Helianthus - from the Greek helios meaning sun and anthos meaning flower - also means sunflower.
